The “Chesapeake
Challenge”.
In 2016
there will be 8 tournaments in the Southside Hampton Roads area. Theses 8 Tournaments will be known as the "Chesapeake Cup Challenge". The tournaments will be hosted by the Baltimore, DC and Richmond Golf Channel Am Tours.
These tournaments are set up to extend some friendly competition between the 3 Tours, and to give players a Series of tournaments to compete in that offer their own stand-alone recognition simular to the PGA Tour FedEx Cup
In an effort to reduce the travel commitment that the players would be subjected to it was made more economical by doing 2 tournaments for each trip. 4 trips-8
tournaments.
The Local Tours are only allowed to award double points on the 2-day Tour
Championships, so these are NOT 2 day tournaments, they are each 2- 1 day
tournaments on some of the finest courses in the Va. Beach area.
Each
tournament will have its own points, trophies and prizes awarded to each
individual participating flight. The Richmond Tour will operate the Saturday
tournaments while the DC or Balt. Tour will conduct the Sunday tournaments.
Each tournament will be on a different course, meaning in 4 weekends you will
experience 8 different courses.
In each tournament
the low 2 scores in each flight for each Tour will be compiled into a Series
long standings for the “Chesapeake Cup” that the winning Tour will keep for
bragging rights for the year.
This means that every player will have the opportunity to contribute to their own Tour in each one of the 8 tournaments.
This means that every player will have the opportunity to contribute to their own Tour in each one of the 8 tournaments.
The Team scoring will be compiled as follows
If there are 2 players from each of the 3 Tours in a flight the Top finisher will gain 6 points for their respective team and on down 5, 4, 3, 2 and 1
Example:
Hogan Flight
1st Smith - Balt 6 points
2nd Rogers DC 5 points
3rd McIlroy Rich 4 points
4th Jones DC 3 points
5th Howard Balt 2 points
6th Cooper Balt
7th Andrews Rich 1 point
8th Woods DC
9th Brock Rich
If 2 of the Tours have at least 2 players in a flight and the 3rd Tour only has 1 then the point total will be reduced to 5 points
Example
Hogan Flight
1st Smith - Balt 5 points
2nd Rogers DC 4 points
3rd Jones DC 3 points
4th Woods DC
5th Howard Balt 2 points
6th Cooper Balt
7th McIlroy Rich 1 point
If 2 Tours have at least 2 players in a flight and the 3rd Tour has no players the points will be reduced to 4
Example
Palmer Flight
1st Smith - Balt 4 points
2nd Rogers DC 3 points
3rd Jones DC 2 points
4th Woods DC
5th Howard Balt 1 points
6th Cooper Balt
If 1 Tour has at least 2 players in a flight a 2nd Tour has 1 player in the flight and the 3rd Tour has no players in the flight the top point total will still be 3
Example
Jones Flight
1st Rogers DC 3 points
2nd Smith Balt 2 points
3rd Jones DC 1 points
4th Woods DC
5th Miller DC
